nowadays, universities and colleges have witnessed a host of?creative optional courses springing up, bringing a heated discussion on its role in higher education.

as far as i am concerned, the necessity of optional courses is self-evident. initially, optional courses could be considered as an enrichment and expansion of the curriculum system, adding flexibility and possibility to go beyond the limitations?of the existing course arrangement. furthermore, with different selective courses, students’ various individual learning needs and tastes will be catered for, due to which both their interests and abilities can be further cultivated in the long run. last but not least, many an instructor in universities can bring their own strengths into full play?by means of setting up optional courses, where they are able to sharpen their teaching insights and advance in education wisdom.

given?the reasons aforementioned, optional courses have substantial benefits, meaning that they will continue to remain an essential constituent in universities’ curriculum structure.
